The stator is the stationary, copper-wound iron core inside the motor casing. Energised in sequence by the controller, it generates the rotating magnetic field the rotor’s magnets react against — this is the part doing the actual electromagnetic work of turning the motor, and on most builds it also carries the Hall sensor assembly used for commutation timing.
Sustained high load at low RPM — “lugging” the motor up a hill in too high a gear, or running high amperage settings for long periods — builds heat in the windings faster than it can dissipate. Symptoms range from intermittent power cuts and a thermal-cutback error code, through to a motor casing too hot to hold your hand on, and in advanced cases a burnt smell with visibly discoloured windings. Catching it at the intermittent-cutout stage, before winding damage sets in, is the difference between a stator swap and a full motor replacement.
Fits the BBS02 750W UART kit and BBS02B CAN-BUS kit, and pairs with the BBS02 UART controller. If you’d rather not open the motor casing yourself, our full Bafang service handles the whole job. If you’re not sure whether the fault is the stator or the rotor, the matched motor core bundle removes the guesswork.
