The magnet ring fits onto the crank spindle in place of the standard crank arm hardware, and the paired Hall sensor detects each magnet passing to tell the controller you’re pedalling, roughly how fast, and which direction — the dual-Hall design is what lets it distinguish forward pedalling from backpedalling rather than just counting pulses. It’s a universal, generic-hub-kit part rather than a Bafang-specific one, built for DIY hub motor conversions and controllers that accept a standard 3-pin PAS signal.
Fitting requires removing the crank arm to slide the magnet ring into place, then reinstalling the crank — not a plug-and-play external swap. It’s worth doing this at the same time as any other bottom-bracket-area work on a hub motor conversion build.
Suits generic hub motor and conversion-kit builds using a standard 3-pin PAS input, such as our rear hub motor kits. If you’re specifically running a Bafang BBS01, BBS02 or BBSHD mid-drive, use our Bafang-specific PAS sensor instead, which is designed for that motor family’s crank and magnet-ring spec.
