A Dual Crown That Takes a Standard Wheel
Most dual-crown forks push you towards a 20mm hub, which usually means building or buying a wheel specifically for the fork. This one runs the far more common 110 × 15mm boost thru-axle, so a modern e-bike front wheel — including the one we stock — bolts straight in.
The dual-crown layout clamps the stanchions above and below the head tube rather than gripping a single steerer once. The result is a much more rigid front end, which is what a converted bike needs once it is carrying a motor and a battery and holding higher speeds. Braking loads and steering inputs both go through a structure that resists twist rather than flexing under them.
At 34mm, the stanchions are noticeably fatter than the 30–32mm typical of trail forks. On a bike whose all-up weight has gone up substantially, that extra diameter is doing real work rather than just looking purposeful.
Air Spring, Lockout and Rebound
The fork is air sprung, with a blue crown dial marked OPEN and LOCK and a rebound adjuster on the lower leg. The air spring is the important part on a conversion: rider weight plus motor plus battery differs hugely from build to build, and air lets you set spring rate to your actual bike rather than living with a coil wound for someone else’s.
The lockout firms the fork for road sections and climbing, where suspension movement wastes energy — useful on a heavy bike where every bit of bob is costing you range. Rebound controls how quickly the fork returns after a compression; too fast and it bucks, too slow and it packs down over repeated hits. Set air pressure first, rebound second, and leave the lockout for smooth tarmac.
Fitting Points and Compatibility
The steerer is a 28.6mm straight 1 1/8in tube, supplied long and cut to match your head tube and stem stack during fitting. Cut it once — a steerer trimmed short cannot be recovered.
Braking is disc only, on a post mount, with no rim brake provision. Before ordering, check that your frame has room for the lower crown to rotate without hitting the down tube — this is the fitment issue that catches people out on dual-crown conversions, and it is worth measuring rather than assuming.
At 735mm axle-to-crown this fork is considerably taller than most stock forks, which will raise your front end, slacken the head angle and alter how the bike steers. That is usually the intended effect on a high-power build, but it is worth knowing before you fit it to a bike you like the handling of.
How It Compares to Our Other Forks
Against the KKE dual-crown fork, this one is the more practical choice for most builds purely because of the 15mm axle — same dual-crown rigidity, without needing a special hub. The KKE’s 20mm axle is stiffer again and suits the most extreme builds. For a lighter, more conventional conversion that doesn’t need a dual crown at all, the single-crown Bolany fork is a third of the price and a great deal lighter.
Pair it with the MTX thru-axle front wheel for a matched front end, or see the full bike parts range.
Warranty and Returns
Every NANLIO Suspension Fork purchased from All4eBikes is covered by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, alongside a 30-day return window. Please note that a steerer cut to length cannot be returned.
Will It Clear Your Frame?
Send us a photo of your head tube and down tube and we’ll check lower-crown clearance and steerer length before you order.
